Deliciously sweet and a truly indulgent treat, our Strawberry Shortcake doughnut is a great pick for anyone looking to satisfy their sweet tooth.
This sweet pink treat couldn’t be easier to put together, and all you’ll need is a whisk, a spatula and a mixing bowl!
If you want to add that little something extra to this doughnut we recommend crumbling up some shortbread pieces and sprinkling on top while the icing is still wet for a really tasty treat. If you’re not a huge strawberry fan don’t fret as we’ve got a number of other tasty doughnut toppings for you to choose from here.
- 4 ring doughnuts
- 240 ml double cream
- 3 tbsp icing sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 120 ml crème fraîche
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tsp pink food colouring
- 1 punnet strawberries
- Whip the cream in a chilled bowl until soft peaks form. Add in the icing sugar and vanilla extract and whisk until mixed thoroughly.
- In a medium bowl whisk the crème fraiche with the granulated sugar until smooth.
- With a rubber spatula gently fold half of the whipped cream into the crème fraiche until well mixed, before gently fold in the remaining half.
- Spread on top of the doughnut before placing halved strawberries on top.
- Optional - sprinkle with icing sugar or crumbled shortbread pieces.
