Kitchenware store ProCook has bucked the retail trend, announcing pleasing sales figures for the first financial quarter. The company, which has 22 stores nationwide, posted a like-for-like increase of 27% in sales driven by strong performance right across the business.
ProCook’s like-for-like performance is even more impressive when contrasted with June’s ONS figure for overall UK retail growth, which measured at 4% for June. ProCook’s like-for-like retail performance has presented significant double-digit growth for the first quarter.
ProCook originally began as a small, family-run business and is still owned and operated by Managing Director Daniel O’Neill who believes that despite disappointing ONS figures, his company’s results are indicative of a resurgent and growing economy.
“We’ve seen better performance in all areas of the business with more customers coming through the doors and spending more when they do. Consumer confidence seems to be sky high and that’s got to be due to people having a bit more money in their pockets”.
Steve Sanders, ProCook’s recently appointed CEO, said “ProCook is rooted in developing and retailing excellent products at competitive prices to give customers real value. It’s great to see a lot of hard work right across the business translating into very encouraging Q1 figures”.
Sanders added, “The market is highly competitive and the challenge will be to sustain this momentum going forward”.
