  1. Heat the butter over a medium heat in a saucepan. When the butter is hot and foaming, add the potatoes and fry until golden brown on one side, around 5 minutes.
  2. Turn the potatoes over and fry on the other side for a further 5 minutes.
  3. Add the chicken stock, garlic cloves and thyme to the pan, cover and simmer until the potatoes are tender.
  4. remove the potatoes from the saucepan using a slotted spoon.
