Pastry twists are always a firm favourite at parties, and so easy to make using ready-made puff pastry. Among the many flavour combinations, cheese sets off the buttery pastry perfectly, and our ‘twist on a twist’ adds some warmth and spice with cumin and pepper seasoning.

For this recipe, you will need a baking sheet, a sharp knife, a couple of mixing bowls and some measuring cups and measuring spoons.

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 200° and line a baking tray with baking paper. Partially thaw your pastry for about 10 minutes
  2. Take one layer of pastry and lay it on the baking sheet
  3. Brush the pastry evenly with beaten egg
  4. Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl
  5. Sprinkle half the mixture on the pastry layer
  6. Lay the second pastry sheet on top of the first one and press down evenly to secure
  7. Brush the rest of the egg on top of the next sheet
  8. Sprinkle remaining mixture over the pastry
  9. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for 15 mins
  10. Using a sharp knife, cut the pastry into even strips about 3cm wide to whichever length you desire
  11. Twist strips
  12. Bake in the oven for 10-12 mins or until browned and crisp
  13. Allow to cool before serving.
